MY STABLE MANAGEMENT MESS
Last year I found myself in a complete stable management mess after buying my new horse, Sazerac, aka Sunny. I spent several phone calls, emails and texts trying to locate radiographs, health papers, vet reports, insurance policies and the necessary documentation to change his name with the USEF. I could have saved a lot of time, money and frustration if all of this information would have been kept with the horse in once central database.
THE GREAT PAPER CHASE
I am sure many of you have had similar frustrations when acquiring a new horse. In my situation, Sunny was shipped from Virginia in late June, but I put him in training about three hours from my home in the Northwest. My trainer immediately placed him on a solid monthly maintenance program in conjunction with her sport horse veterinary clinic. Additionally, I requested and forwarded the prepurchase films for the farrier and he also requested a second set to make his necessary adjustments. In August, Sunny sustained an injury in his right front that was difficult to diagnose. This required contacting his last trainer to determine if he had ever had a coffin joint injection. We then brought him close to home for stall rest and dry turnout, which required MORE radiographs by my regular vet and his farrier. These are in addition to calling the last vet clinic to have the other sets of radiographs and health records forwarded. Additionally, had to run an additional blood test because no one in his immediete history knew his complete vaccination history, specifically strangles.
STABLE SECRETARY
Thanks to StableSecretary.com, I will no longer undergo another paper/digital chase for Sunny. As of October, I started to use this simple online system and mobile app to manage both health and maintenance records and the corresponding providers.
A TOOL FOR ALL HORSEMEN
I became more familiar with Stable Secretary when I was contacted to work on the company’s marketing initiatives to expand their products offerings. The system was originally designed by sport horse professionals to help other professionals EASILY manage both maintenance records AND invoicing. The company then recognized that there is a great need for all horsemen, not just professionals, to have an affordable record management system accessible from anywhere at anytime. I could not agree more! For the number of features Stable Secretary offers, it is extremely cost effective and the company even offers a 30-day free trial.
