Two years ago, during the holiday season, my husband and I noticed that a couple of the gifts he had ordered for me online and a gift that was sent from his mother were never received. As Christmas grew closer, he tracked the packages designated for me and his account showed “delivered”. Our home was on a high traffic count boulevard and it occurred to us that they were probably stolen off of our porch. Several months later, he was visiting with one of our neighbors and she mentioned that she had “found” several empty boxes with his name on them in her driveway. Would have been nice to know!
The funny part was that I had asked for durable mats for the specific model of my automobile because I had just brought my horse back to Idaho and the factory mats were not durable to stable dirt. I don’t think the thieves benefitted much from those boxes. Even better, my mother-in-law had sent a package full of "buy 1, get 1 free" items to my husband from Jos. A Banks (hilarious, if you know my husband’s taste). The thieves must have been very disappointed with the resale value of their loot!
Joking aside, we then started shipping packages to our offices. If my Der Dau Custom Boots would have been stolen off of my front porch, I would have tracked down the thieves myself!
THE SOLUTION
It can be inconvenient to only have items delivered to the office, especially when waiting for an overnight package or a Saturday delivery. Since we own our own businesses, our time in the office doesn’t t always match up with commercial delivery times, especially since I now only work from that location once a week. I was recently advised of the perfect solution: THE LANDPORT.

The Landport is American made, aesthetically appealing and specially engineered to keep your packages safe. Jody Pettit founded the company because she had almost the identical experience I did, only the package she had stolen contained a precious family heirloom. Essentially, the Landport is bolted down at your residence or business and the delivery carrier punches in your personal code and safely locks your items inside. There are multiple methods to easily provide the carrier with your code and Landport is excellent at educating their customers with the process.

The Landport website best describes it’s unique benefits:
Think of Landport as an outpost of safety in a busy world. The protective convenience it provides benefits you, and others, too. That includes delivery drivers and their companies, as well as friends and neighbors.
UPS, FedEx, and other delivery services benefit because Landport saves drivers from having to make multiple trips to your home or business if you’re not there. Because it deters theft, Landport spares carrier companies from having to deal with lost or stolen packages.
And Landport isn’t only for commercial deliveries – friends and neighbors can use it, too. Let’s say someone wants to borrow a piece of camping gear or an expensive tool. Just place it in your Landport, give that person your access code, and let them pick it up at their convenience. When it’s time to return the item, they can just leave it in Landport, where it will remain safe until you retrieve it.
Because Landport is convenient, and performs its safekeeping duties so well, it eliminates one more stress point from everyone’s day, creating peace of mind for all.
THE EQUESTRIAN'S USE FOR LANDPORT

As I mentioned in a previous blog, we recently purchased a farmhouse that is being remodeled. This is going to be one of our first purchases for our front porch. Aesthetically, it will match perfectly with the red front door (or soon to be).
Below is a list of equestrian lifestyle companies that I order online from/and or recieve shipments and I will be much more comfortable knowing the items will delivered safely, especially due to their value:
1) Smart Pak "Barn Saver": I LOVE Smart Pak’s free “Barn Saver” shipping program for all items shipped to your specified commercial barn. I use this program often because there is no minimum threshold you need to spend for free shipping. I am thinking of purchasing one of these for the stable where I keep my horse when I have one in Boise. In the past, the items have been received by the barn manager and then placed on my tack trunk until I arrive, which could be a few days.
2) Asmar Equestrian: Asmar uses Fed Ex and the brand is QUICK to fulfill your order. I order from their website at least twice a year due to the quality and fit of their products.
3) Bespoke Items: Der Dau Custom Boots and Exquisite Equestrian (custom coolers, scrims, etc.) are just two businesses that I have received packages from via commercial delivery. I would be devastated if these items were stolen, not to mention the time and cost to replace.
4) Amazon.com PRIME: I use Amazon Prime at least once a month to order QWEST nutrition bars. They have a low glycemic level and I leave them in my tack trunk because they don’t melt. They provide quality energy during a hectic schedule.
