{My Favorite Stable Essentials}
This week has been monumental as I have finally purchased a new horse to help me step up my riding, specifically in the hunter ring, and he arrives today.
For many years, I forgot how important it is for my psyche to physically take care of a horse. When I was growing up, my horses were kept mainly at home and it seemed like a chore, as opposed to a privilege, to care for them daily. As life progressed, I chased the brass ring to ensure riding in a full training program was possible; I proceeded with business school and an intense career to ensure that a competitive equestrian lifestyle was financially possible. During this process, I totally lost direction as to what being a true horsewoman is about.
In the last few years, I have made major adjustments in my life’s priorities. Amongst other things, I seek out trainers that fit my ideals of putting the care of my horse and the progression of learning first, as opposed to the sole purpose of chasing a prize. To obtain this type of training, I still find my horses are logistically unavailable for part of the year. Although I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with this caliber of instruction, ironically I now feel that I missing out when I am not a part of their every day routine.
I truly appreciate the time I spend at the immaculate little private boarding stable near my home. I now consider it a luxury to know the intricacies of my horse and my equipment and enjoy the time wrapping legs, setting fences, making feed bags, discussing maintenance routines, shopping for equipment and generally spending time with my horse and my equestrian friends.
If it is not obvious, I am very excited for this next chapter with a new partner and I wish you a rewarding spring enjoying your equestrian pursuits!
Salut!

1) Cavalleria Toscana Stretch Jersey Top
Two of my main considerations when choosing summer riding shirts include UV protection and the ability to machine wash. I also prefer styles that are fitted for riding and look tidy. This stylish shirt offers all of these benefits and will easily take you from the stable to the show grounds. $260 LINK.

3.) Rejuvenate Yoga Tote
I use totes that are slim enough to stash in my tack trunk, are tolerant of moisture and easily transition from the stable to the street (or market!). This Lululemon bag has all of the features and is versatile enough for a variety of activities. $98 LINK.

4.) King Barns
It is fun to dream about the perfect tack room and King Barns provides plenty of inspiration. Family owned and operated, KingBarns is renowned for their fine carpentry, particularly in stables. Their website showcases an extensive portfolio of work that is aesthetically beautiful and also well designed for function. This design is particularly appealing because the bridle holders also hold a girth above the crown of each headstall. LINK.
