Many of us that board our horses are often challenged with the question of where to store all of our extra equipment. As an addict of HGTV, I was totally excited when professional equestrian photographer recently posted on Facebook: “Bought a tuff shed and my dad helped me turn it into the cutest little tack room! All finished and moved into the barn now.” One glance at the photos and I knew she had created an ingenious solution for many riders lacking storage space. The ability to move the shed reminded me of the tiny house trend and the décor is chic, but comfortable. I hope this post assists many of you to glean inspiration from Brittany’s creative and practical genius.

IT STARTED WITH A BRIDLE RACK...
by Bethany Unwin
A few months ago, I purchased a Tuff Shed with the idea of using it as a tack room. I wanted, rather needed, a place to store the equipment that belongs to the many horses I seem to keep collecting. I had already made a bridle rack and I thought this would be a perfect place to hang my DIY project.
I purchased a Tuff Shed and envisioned something very similar. My dad agreed to “put up some walls, my bridle rack, and maybe a shelf or two.” I started to determine which wall to hang the bridle rack and which wall to place my tack trunk. I turned to Pinterest and that’s the project escalated to include:
• “Let’s add beadboard wainscoting”
• “Can I fit a couch in here?”
• “Dad! Could you make a bench with three sections underneath it for storage?
• “Can we paint the entire building white?”
My dad is awesome. He listened to my ideas and determined the best way to configure each one of them into the interior. He would work on our tiny building after work and slowly, but surely our vision became a reality.
For the interior décor, I envisioned a minimalistic, yet comfortable space that was functional and looked like it was meant for tack. To complete the space, I had personal photography of my horses framed and matted and located the balance of the finishing touches at HomeGoods, my home away from home. My tiny tack room literally turned out exactly how I imagined it.
Now I just need the chaise lounge, a wine fridge and everything will be finished…..(wink, wink)
