‘Fashions fade, style is eternal.’ – Yves Saint Laurent
I am a firm believer in organization in all facets of my life; inclusive of my home, business , tack room and everything in between. I know exactly what is in my possession and I am careful not to waste or duplicate items. Along this philosophy, I try to purchase only investment pieces that will last for years, and sometimes even decades. Sure, I own a few trendy/seasonal items, but the core of my personal style is built on simplicity and quality. Each piece is worth organizing and caring for (Note: never sell a Baker sheet, you may have another horse that needs it one day!).
This entire post was inspired by an ensemble I wore to a very special event this past weekend in which I did not purchase a single new item. I paired a classic equestrian inspired, “little black” Middy N'Me dress purchased a few seasons ago with simple handmade Italian "faux" pony hair slides. These shoes were a big investment for my budget when I purchased them TWELVE years ago, but they have proven their worth time and time again. Accessories were limited and included:
- Two-tone classic Cartier Tank Watch, an elegant style that was first created by Louise Cartier in 1917.
- Simple black Hermes enamel bracelet adorned only with the label’s Duc Carriage iconic mark, which was established in 1957.
- Prescription Ray Ban Wayfarer's, a design first manufactured in 1956.
I felt beautiful in my outfit, not only for the work that many of us women dedicate to our health and wellness, but also because the ensemble was a reflection of my personal style consisting of timeless designs created by iconic brands.
At Street to Stable, we always try to acknowledge the entrepreneurs that are dedicated to their businesses and connect our community with these passionate artisans and designers. The designer of the dress I was wearing and owner of the label Middy N' Me, Kimberly Barratt, is of no exception.
“Our customers come back time and again for the elegant and consistent fit they get whether buying a shirt, tunic or dress. They have virtually become collectables!”
- Kimberly Barratt
