Using Successful Repetition to Hone Skills and Gain Confidence
Practice is the act of rehearsing a behavior over and over, or engaging in an activity again and again, for the purpose of improving or mastering it, as in the phrase "practice makes perfect.” (1)

From a young age, skills that I have learned from riding have crossed over to my every day life. Just last week when I was taking a lesson, I had an “a-ha” moment as to how using repetition in practice to ingrain a skill and gain confidence is applicable both in the arena and in LIFE. In this instance, we were adjusting stride length before and after a single fence and the goal was to properly execute the exercise two times in a row. This act of using the required aids two times in a row raised the efficacy of my riding skills. I was reflecting on this school of learning on my way home from the stable and I realized that I have correlated this philosophy associating success based on repitition throughout my entire business career.
PROVING SUCCESS
Many of you might have noticed a break in the number of Street to Stable blog posts in the last month. Although I have assistance from guest bloggers, freelance writers, a business consultant, designers and photographers, the bulk of the work is currently my responsibility. Street to Stable has been a surprisingly popular offshoot of the equestrian business consulting business I founded when I left my corporate job after 18 years specializing in the same sector in Agribusiness. As my time morphed from equestrian business consulting to blogging, deep down I knew that I could not commit 100% of my career to the Street to Stable business plan until I had completed a repetitive process. I needed to prove to myself that the success I achieved during my food production based agribusiness career was not a fluke or due to my connections, but rather based on my skill set.
Over the last few months, I have been engrossed in learning the details of a different agribusiness industry outside of my previous specialty as I had the privilege of managing a web-based project for a privately held global fruit company. Just this morning, the final product was released to the public. The successful launch was possible because I had been honing and improving similar crossover skills for years AND this project included a hard working team of experts. Today's repetition of success has provided me with a huge confidence boost regarding the authenticity of my agribusiness / food production career and a peace of mind that I am ready to close one chapter and fully commit to a different industry.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
Street to Stable is my passion. As an entrepreneur, it tests all of the business skills I have spent years honing both in the field and in the advanced education university classroom. With my new found peace of mind of achievement, as verified through successful repetition in the agribusiness/ food production sector, I now have a peace of mind that makes me incredibly excited to build Street to Stable on my own terms.
