I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Manhattan. I spent Sunday on both Fifth and Madison Avenues reviewing the trends that have been interpreted from the runways and actually delivered to retailers’ floors. Short boots, cable knits and plaid fabrics are popular across all labels for casual wear.
Regarding footwear, short booties and ankle height boots are the rage. We are finally witnessing the “riding boot” look that was popularized over the last SEVERAL seasons finally decline. Perhaps this is why semi-fitted straight leg jeans that are incredibly flattering when cuffed just once and paired with short boots or ballet flats are emerging heavily as a popular look on the streets.
Rain boots are already on the floor of most major shoe boutiques. The British heritage brand loved by equestrians, Hunter, is everywhere: street, stable and in the field. Established in 1856, the company continues to remain true to its core by creating footwear that is water repellant, yet it continually reinvents its styles to stay modern.
From exterior zippers with a “street” edge to tall traditional boots, Hunter has a style that will keep your feet dry and your look personalized and unique. The finisihing touch is the brand's "socks" and no doubt the cable knit style so popular for sweaters will carry over to footwear.
Salut!
