A NATURAL COLLABORATION
My entire career has been dedicated to family owned and/or heritage brands. From private ownership to corporate life, I have always worked to promote the values of the founders. These are the companies and brands I also gravitate to for my wardrobe essentials. It is no wonder that my wardrobe basics are fairly classic and sparse in numbers, but contain items that remain in style for many years.
Today when I stepped out of my back door at 5 am, I was surprised to walk into a rainstorm. This brings me to the reality that it is time to start wearing warm coats that are waterproof and is time to pull out the wax coated Barbour. In the past I have tried to cut corners and buy knock-offs to save a few dollars for barn wear, but they are just not the same in quality and especially fit. This is my first winter riding 3 hours away in Sun Valley, Idaho. Up in the mountains, the temperatures will plummett to the negatives. Luckily there is a heated indoor- somewhat a rarity in Southern Idaho and a huge luxury that I will very much appreciate.
This morning while drinking my coffee, I conducted a quick scan online for an investment coat that I can wear around the barn and that is also comfortable to ride in. Although I have not made a decision, I fell for this new partnership collection between Barbour and Land Rover that combines durability and a more modern design.
"Launched suitably with a day of country pursuits at Land Rover’s spiritual home Eastnor Castle, the Barbour for Land Rover Collection personifies all that is best about the great British outdoors. A contemporary interpretation of the two brands’ traditional values, the collection adds the finishing touch to a modern lifestyle."-LandRover.com
{This is my favorite coat for my needs, due to the shorter cut. I can still hop on a horse without the back of the coat catching the saddle...or so I am guessing. I will hoepfully know soon! The wax coating is a must for walking outside when it snows as our barn is not connected to the indoor arena.}
"There's a strong synergy between Barbour and Land Rover, we're both established British brands with years of heritage, renowned for our understated style and synonymous with British countryside."

Great modern cut and detailing on this coat with classic styling, but slightly too long for riding. Belted waist allows to layer sweaters underneath or cinch up for a slimmer look. Lovely, all the same!
I'm a huge fan of wax coated bags for the barn to repel dirt and mainly dust. Nice to see bags in the collection.
Classic wax coat, but a slight edgy look with the leather trimming. Bag is a nice style with the fold over top to protect items.
I had to include this photo due to the spur belt...Equestrian Sport, Barbour and Land Rover are natural together.
