Farmer’s Market Season
The sun is finally shining in our corner of the Pacific Northwest and with this transition also arrives our local farmer’s market. I am more adamant than ever about the importance of incorporating fresh vegetables and fruit into each of our diets and this year I am looking forward to shopping outdoors for our household.
For many years, I lived downtown and I became somewhat of an expert of riding my bicycle to our Saturday market to pick up my weekly bunch of flowers. Although I hadn’t quite grasped the importance of “vegetables” yet, I have always loved fresh flowers in the home and riding my bike provided a great means of exercise. As a weekly shopper, I learned a few tips including arriving early for the best choices, bringing cash in small denominations, and carrying the necessary size bag for the goods I would be purchasing. Farmer’s Markets also happen to be quite social, so I always recommend wearing comfortable clothing that also looks nice.
The start of June marks a perfect opportunity to create flavorful meals using seasonal ingredients … or at the very least, enjoy the experiencing of purchasing fresh flowers to create a lovely ambiance in your home!
Salut!
